First Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic in Yamhill County Coming in 2017!
Homeward Bound Pets has operated a low-cost spay/neuter program since February 2011 and has spayed and neutered over 4,700 community cats. Once a month we transport cats to a veterinary clinic out of county because no facility in Yamhill County can accommodate the clinic numbers. The program has been generously funded by Petco Foundation grants and donations from Yamhill County and many of its cities. During the 5½ years of operation, the program has spent over $200,000 on spay/neuter services outside of Yamhill County.
We are expanding and improving our community spay/neuter services by establishing a low-cost spay/neuter clinic here in McMinnville that will support the local economy. In addition, a McMinnville clinic will be more convenient and less stressful for owners and pets by avoiding a 45- to 60-minute transport each direction.
The new clinic will also allow us to offer spay/neuter services to dogs as well as cats.
A generous donor has purchased a building in central McMinnville for our organization to use for the spay/neuter clinic.
A steering committee has been working for over a year to plan the new clinic. Below is the floor plan for the building remodel:
Yamhill County citizens need a local, affordable spay/neuter service. The Homeward Bound Pets Spay/Neuter Clinic will fulfill this need and provide financial assistance to homeless and low-income individuals and families.
As of the beginning of April 2017, we have raised 86% of our fundraising goal of $195,000 (over $168,000), and have received the promised $50,000 matching donation. The building remodel is underway, and we are very excited to see the clinic begin to take shape.
However, we still need about $27,000 to complete the remodel and purchase all the veterinary equipment and supplies to have a functioning spay/neuter clinic. We need to purchaseveterinary surgery tables, a scrub sink, a wet-prep table, veterinary exam tables, an autoclave and other lab equipment, as well as many medical supplies and other equipment such as a washer and dryer, utility sink, storage bins, office equipment, and the list goes on. We still need your help and support to be able to open the clinic this fall on schedule.
Please partner with us to open the first low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Yamhill County.
Thank you for your support.
