Surrender an Animal

Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Shelter tries to take in as many animals as possible, but space and funds are always a challenge.  We are a private 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill, adoption shelter, who depends entirely on private and community donations.

We are not allowed by law to accept stray or abandoned dogs, they must go to the county dog control.  However, if you find you are moving or downsizing and can no longer keep your dog please note the fees below and call HBPets 503-472-0341.  We will assess your dog, check to make sure it doesn’t have a registered bite history and then we will work until we can find their ‘Forever Home’.

For the time being, we are unable to accept surrendered cats due to a lack of space to properly care for them due to pre-construction of our new shelter. Please review the list of local animal rescues that may be able to help. We look forward to our new shelter and will be able to resume taking in surrendered cats when our new shelter is completed.

Note: If you adopted your cat from us, it might be possible for us to take them in, if we can make the room. Please contact us at 503-472-0341 ext. 1. Please leave a message and our staff will get back to you within a few days. Please be patient and leave just one message; we are usually outside with our animals and do not have a dedicated employee answering the phone.
