HBPETS SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC, THRIFT SHOP, and SHELTER ARE OPEN!
Before we get into the logistics of location openings and new safety procedures, we want to thank our community for all of the support we have received. That love and generosity helps us give our shelter animals the second chance they all deserve. We are full of gratitude!
This post is long, but it will allow you to have all of the information you may need in one place, so your questions can be answered more quickly. We are operating with a skeleton crew and therefore, our response time is not as quick as we would like to offer. All three of our locations are, with safety precautions in place. Below you will find very specific details on our thrift shop, spay/neuter clinic, and shelter.
You will see some changes when you visit; we have installed sneeze-guards at payment counters, we are limiting the number of people inside each of our locations at one time, keeping surfaces sanitized, have posted safety signage, and our staff will be wearing masks inside. We are doing all that we can to ensure that our adopters, thrift shoppers, veterinary patients, donors, volunteers and staff are safe.
Thank you for your continued support and patience while we navigate these changes for everyone’s safety
HBPETS SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC
The Homeward Bound Pets Spay/Neuter Clinic is reopening May 19, 2020, with the following hours: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Tuesday – Thursday for phone calls and over the counter purchases only. We ask for your patience as we work through a backlog of previously scheduled appointments before we can make new appointments.
*If you had a surgery scheduled before we closed in March, you will be rescheduled for May and June; please expect to be contacted.
*If you contacted us via email or voicemail while we were closed requesting a surgery appointment, you will be contacted, and those appointments will be in June and July.
*If you have NOT called to make an appointment, please expect an appointment at the end of July or early August to be scheduled once you contact the clinic (firstname.lastname@example.org or call 503-472-0341 ext. 2).
***PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO ARRIVING AT THE CLINIC, PAYMENT PROCESSING, AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AT THE CLINIC.***
We ask that you stay in your car when arriving at the clinic for appointments (instructions will be given at the time of the appointment for drop off and pick up). A separate phone line will be given to you call when you arrive.
*Payments will be taken over the phone, and products will be sent out to you by staff.
*If you must enter the lobby, please call when arriving, we require that you wear a face mask and maintain a six-foot distance from other people.
*Your temperature will be taken at the door with a no-touch thermometer.
*One person per family is allowed in the lobby with two customers at a time.
HBPETS THRIFT SHOP
Our thrift shop is OPEN: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 am- 5:00 pm. CLOSED: Wednesday and Sunday
We are doing all that we can to ensure that our shoppers, donors, volunteers and staff are safe; we have installed sneeze-guard at the payment counter, will limit the number of shoppers allowed in the shop at one time, and our staff and volunteers will be wearing masks.
We suggest that when shopping or dropping off item donations, that you please wear a mask.

HBPETS ANIMAL SHELTER
Our animal shelter will reopen for appointment-only adoptions of cats and dogs on Tuesday, May 19th. Adoption appointments will be offered Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
For cat adoptions, please wear a mask and we will provide gloves. Dog adoptions take place outside, so no mask is required, but we do ask that you keep a safe, six-foot distance from shelter staff.
*Please note if you arrive at the shelter without an appointment, you will be asked to make one and return another day.
Be sure to read on for all details regarding the adoption process. If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please visit us on our PetFinder.com page here: https://www.petfinder.com/…/mcmi…/homeward-bound-pets-or238/ and answer all the required questions.
To do this, click the purple button on the bottom right of the website, “Ask about (pet name)”. That will allow you to send us a message where you can answer the questions on that page.
Once you have submitted those answers and we contact you, we can move forward with a meet and greet. If you arrive at the shelter without an appointment, you will be asked to make one and return another day.
Our shelter staff is operating with a skeleton crew and we ask that you refrain from sending multiple social media messages, emails, and leaving several voicemails, as this only impedes our ability to respond in a timely manner.
*Please note it may take our staff 3-4 business days to return your messages and we genuinely appreciate your patience.
We can currently accept only debit and credit cards for adoption fees.
Thank you very much for your patience as we do all that we can to navigate these new procedures for everyone’s safety.
